Burgerville FTW

Well it has been way to long since my last visit to the Pacific Northwest's own Burgerville. Got myself a classic Pepper Bacn (yes I spelled it that way on purpose) Cheese Burger and Fries. Oh so hit the spot.

When I moved to Oregon in '98 I could not understand the loyalty that Washington and Oregonians had for BV. I also remember saying to my wife, "Man, burgers there are so expensive." (In comparison to other fast food burger places)

After living here I have realized their is no real comparison at all. BV knows how to make a really good fresh burger. You pay more sure but you get the best. So good job BV on making it just that much better to be an Oregonian.

Google Wave

Have been watching the I/O 2009 Google Wave Dev demo at http://wave.google.com. Looks really cool but so far I am not sure how stable it will be with tons of users. With real time updating character by character.

Personally I would love to see this working with 10K users like some old school forums I used to visit and post on. I would see this slowing way down or being so crazy it would be come unusable.

Still it is exciting to see tech like this for HTML 5 and I hope stuff like this get the IE team realizing that it needs to conform to Web Standards to make the web a happy place for all. Check out the demo if you have time and let me know what you think via twitter or plain old email.

What do you get when?... + Star Trek impressions.

Twitter is down for maintenance and you have an addiction? You get a blog post. Horrible I know. I have been meaning to write another post but honestly have not had much to talk about that would not bore you to tears. (all 0 of my readers that is)

Saw Star Trek last night and was really impressed. JJ did a bang up job and had a really good story. Good surprises for Trek fans and insertions of Slusho/Cloverfield reference as well. (I did miss it but will watch for it on the next viewing) I thought the acting was well done and honor was given to the characters created by the actors no longer with us (Scotty, Bones) Even if you are not a Trek fan go see it. You will enjoy the ride (both action and emotional)

Ok now if twitter will get back up I can fulfill my addition some more...

Allergy season is here again...

Well I have been hit again. Headaches mostly but I can tell allergy season is started in the PacNW for me. Never fun and growing up in the Midwest never had much issues with it. I guess this is what I get for all the beauty here. If that is the price I have to pay I will do so willingly.

Gonna recommend to anyone else Airborne and Zicam if you do not use it already. Both help greatly when you feel cold or allergy symptoms coming on. Lots of water helps too.

Good News

Well this week has gone by really fast. I am really glad it is Friday and am looking forward to the weekend. I got some good news this week. A company I interviewed with on Wed is calling me back on monday for additional interviews. (2x30 minute) I am really excited because they deal with PR and marketing and that is exactly where I want to be doing Web Dev/Design stuff. In an additional note another company is interviewing me tuesday for a web dev position. So for those of you out there still looking do not be discouraged there are places hiring and you will get a job. Stay strong. I am taking today off a little to take the kiddies to OMSI and get some family time in.

Did you know?

http://tinyurl.com/5qljmg is a link to a really good video my wife found about tech and education. Gives you some perspective on how technology is changing so fast each year and the ultimate question of what does it all mean. It also makes you feel very small in the world. Enjoy!

Job Hunting update

Well... the hunting is going slow but at least it is going. I have had a couple interviews and some interest. I am also seeing more calls from contracting companies which spells to me that companies still have work/projects but have lost some good talent to get that done. I think this year we will see an increase in contract jobs out there as companies have laid off workers but still have obligations to fill. I am keeping optimistic and hoping for the best.
